I'm happy to see precious and highly salvagable mods back in the game. I'll make more money off those than most of the other non-maxed inscriptions that drop.

Depends on the drop rates though.

OK seriously, I'm agreeing with Gaile here. I read the OP, and I'm just a little confused about where the 'nerf' is. Honestly. Cause I mean, I though that nerf meant a feature (be it skill, strategy, stats on an item, etc.) that used to work one way, is changed so that it either no longer works, or requires more effort (time, other skills, etc.) to accomplish the same thing that used to require less. If that is what a nerf is, then how is this a nerf?

I think it's great. I love salvaging stuff, and as for the Precious, well I'd much rather get a Precious inscription than a 11^50 or 15% while hexed BS inscription. I will rejoice when I find one!

No Inate attributes (doesn't exist) - inscriptions instead

For those that are complaining that they might get this on their uber rare drop: salvage the inscription off and put another one on. Eureka! problem solved.

This is an inscription that is always max, and can be used on anything. You can be pretty smart about the new system and get really good salvage materials.

Before you complain did you even try salvaging with one on it guys? Ive dont it 3 times

1st time Bone Staff=86 bones !!
2nd Time (other Staff) =76 Wood planks
3rd Staff= 8 steel. I LOVE THE NEW INSCRIPTION... WTb 300 gold each!!

Go gaile and anet, I for one, am
very thankful, and i hate the word nerf.

Show me the money=Precious

This one seems to be a set gold bonus (around +100 from what I've seen so far) not a multiplier. Thus it is pretty much wortless as an inscription. Just sell the weapon with it in.

Measure for Measure=Highly Salvageable

This one is actually really freaking useful. You can save it, stick it in a white item of choice, and get a lot of stuff out of that item. Just figure out what salvages into what you need. If you need lots of cloth stick it in a kournan cape/robe. If you need lots of steel stick it in a rod or a sword.

Kournan Cape/Robe has inscription slots? I dont think that is possible and I believe that was a typo or something else.

I couldn't agree more. "Nerf" is the general term that crybabies use to put down something that they don't like (or more likely: something that they don't understand). Most of them have no clue what "nerfing" actually means. They're just whining. Even if ANet would buff a skill to cause double damage, some idiots would still find a way to call that change a "nerf".

They replaced something, with something thats better. And still people complain. People are so afraid of change its staggering. Every AI update, every skill update, bug fix, actual nerf, or even buffs, and people are terrified of the change.

Guild Wars is not the game for you if you don't like things to change.

Well... I was farming the area right outside of Kamadan (connects to Champion's Dawn, not Churrir Fields), and I got both a Show Me the Money and a Measure for Measure within 15 minutes. They were on weapons worth 1 gold, so I think you can probably expect to see them anywhere.

Oh, and blues always have inscriptions for me in that same area. I sold approximately 20 inscriptions after 3 hours of just killing bugs and plants.

I actually just game across this mod yesterday off a blue I believe. Caught me be surprise, a pleasant surprise mind you

I also fail to see who this is a nerf? A new inscription that wasn't there before. Even if it's a replacement for "precious" how is it removing anything.

So...It this considered a "nerf" (term used loosely) because these inscriptions are more common than others? And were these inherient mods available in Nightfall before? If not, it doesn't make much sense...Prophecies and Factions had em, so why not Nightfall?

For all those ridiculing him about how this is possibly a nerf, if you read his post he's concerned that gold drops will get "useless" inscriptions.

That said I'd assume it's like the old system, where only blue items get precious or highly salvageable. So no, it isn't a nerf. If like he says they do come on golds and can't be replaced then it would indeed suck.

Where is the nerf? Getting a crappy weapon in a newbie area with this inscription and applying it to the purple you got from a chest to boost it's price? Is that a NERF?
Now you can actually remove a mod you want and replace it with a precious one and sell the purple one for a good ammount, or for materials.

Seriously, if you manage to see a bad thing in this update, I really recommend you play some game that is in its final version (which means devs don't care about it anymore) as you'll be able to see a bad thing in EVERY update made to this game (you're neurotic or you are way too pessimistic to see a change happening in your world).

This update was great, nice to see ANet putting some logic in the game ^^ No wonder I didn't find it for unlocking on Priest of Balthazar =P

Thanks ANet for this update, and I'm impressed to see Gaile even on useless topics like this one, you rock.

I wouldn't say this is a "nerf".

I don't hate the idea. Maybe that's just because I'm a higher ranked treasure hunter/wisdom person.
